I have to laugh whenever a friend tells me what sort of drama is going on at so-and-so's dA page. (For some reason, everyone tells me about their drama. Must be because I can keep my mouth shut?)

But that's not the part that makes me laugh: What does, is that if someone bashes or is rude to one artist, they'll either usually make a journal about how someone is being mean to them or tell their friends about the person, so they can all go after this person with comments like, "GAWD, you are SOOO mean!"

Luckily, there's those who just simply report the comment then hide it, and leave it to the dA mods. *applauds those guys*

But honestly, it's kinda ridiculous that people will make these things public. :/ Or that people will go and defend them.

Okay, first of all? The person insulting the artist is probably just a troll. AKA an asshole behind a computer who thinks because the internet is anonymous, they can get away with as much shit as they want. Usually they do this for shits and giggles because they like how flustered people can get. Very rarely, there's people who genuinely hate the artist or their OC that they're bashing, which is usually an indicator of caring a LIIITLE too much about the internet.

Second thing: The fact that you (in general) are making a big deal out of this shows your maturity, or lack of. If you can't let an insult OVER THE INTERNET go, then GTFO. If you're willing to let this get to you and make the issue PUBLIC, of all things, you need to grow up. Not everyone is going to like you, and the ones who don't? They can go fuck themselves. Learn to roll with the punches, or at least keep your dislike to yourself.

If there's really one thing I hate, is the fact that people make this shit public. DON'T. All you're doing is creating drama when there doesn't need to be. Report the fucker or ignore them, that's all you need to do. If you need to tell your friends, fine, but make a fucking point of saying, "I've got this handled, guys, you don't need to defend me."

As for the guys who do defend these people: Seriously, what the HELL is wrong with you? Especially on deviantART, all you're doing is giving the troll a chance to let YOU get banned. You're sinking to their level and making an ass of yourself. Yeah, I get you're being 'true friendz forevahs lololol' but seriously. You're causing more drama than what's needed and it's retarded. If your friend, artist you admire, whatever the case may be, can't defend their own honor, then why should you? And in any case, you're setting yourself to get banned if the troll is feeling particularly mean. Why waste the effort?

Surely you have other causes to defend.

Honestly, a lot of artists on deviantART, who I normally enjoy, lose a lot of respect in my eyes for airing their dirty laundry. The report, ignore, or hide buttons exist for a reason. Use them!
